Miss Fiesta® San Antonio 2020 Crowned

SAN ANTONIO (October 16, 2019) – On the evening of October 16, 2019 after an exciting program, Miss Fiesta® San Antonio 2020 was crowned. We are honored to announce that Calista Burns has been selected as Miss Fiesta San Antonio 2020!

Calista Caroline Burns is a 19-year-old San Antonian native, pursuing a degree in Education at The University of the Incarnate Word, where she is also double minoring in Mathematics and Reading. In addition, she is in her second year with the Honors College Program. Calista plans to pursue her Master’s and Doctorate in Education. This past summer, Calista took on the role of Head Camp Counselor for an all-girls middle school camp called miniGEMS. She planned, created and taught the curriculum during the eight-week summer camp for more than 160 girls. Calista also led and coached the very first Tafolla Middle School First Lego League Robotics girls’ team that placed 4th out of 10 teams this past January. Calista’s passion is giving back and helping young girls in Title I schools who would not have opportunities otherwise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Her service platform is to help educate and expose more girls to the STEM fields and provide hands-on experiences in engineering, coding, programming and robotics giving the girls opportunities to expand their dreams.
