Event Details

The SAAACAM Fiesta Family Blues Festival, a Fiesta San Antonio partner event, is an entertainment, cultural, and food festival which utilizes volunteers and attracts patrons to raise money for the digital collection, education, and preservation of authentic African American history and culture in the San Antonio region. The Blues Festival is inspired by the authentic legacy of local African American blues fiddle musician Ellis Griffin. Performers include local and national acts. Activities include food and craft vendors, children’s games and learning experiences, and community service organizations. Pre-event master music workshops are conducted with local public schools.

The San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in San Antonio, Texas. The SAAACAM mission is to collect and preserve the shared history of African Americans in the San Antonio region. Ongoing programs include history harvest events, open house presentations, educational workshops, and guided tours. The SAAACAM digital collection includes oral histories, family genealogies, public records, private collections, artifacts, photographs, and maps.

Tickets are $10. Free to children age 12 and under. Pet friendly event.
