A beloved, official Fiesta San Antonio family event for 22 years now. The 2.6-mile walk with more than 800 dogs and their people along the streets of Alamo Heights includes pre-walk activities, demonstrations, Costume Contest, and Sponsor giveaways! The Pooch Parade is a major fundraiser for Therapy Animals of San Antonio. We invite all to participate by walking in the parade and support our mission of bringing people and animals together for healing. The parade has a float, music, groups, and passes Alamo Heights home and families watching, partying, and cheering on the parade!
Therapy Animals of San Antonio (TASA) is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) organizations, a member of the International Association of Human-Animal Interactions Organizations, and a GuideStar Exchange Platinum Participant. Our mission since 1989 has been bringing people and animals together for healing. TASA therapy teams (volunteers and their animals) put smiles on people’s faces in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, schools, youth facilities, and veteran-based service organizations. Our literacy program, StoryTails, gives underachieving readers the opportunity to increase literacy skill and gain confidence by reading to an animal. Our teams are active in community education and presentations, de-stress events, and conference engagement. In 2019, TASA established a Crisis Response Program and partners with Northside Independent School District to provide animal therapy to students experiencing loss and trauma.
Advance registration is $25 for individuals and $30 for families. Day of is $5 more. Pet-friendly event.
