San Antonio College celebrates our 23rd annual Multicultural Conference, bringing together writers, artists, musicians, scholars, and community activists together to illuminate multicultural issues within education and society. This year’s theme, responding to current national divisions is “I Too Sing America,” borrowed from Langston Hughes’ poem of the same name. Students and community are invited to participate in cultural, artistic, and academic forums, events, and activities. This year’s highlight event will be a post-apocalyptic punk rock performance of Amalia Ortiz’s newly published book. The goal is to create a dynamic and intellectual curiosity among all participants. Conference events are free and open to the public unless otherwise designated.
As part of this year’s conference, guests are encouraged to join us for a celebrity-hosted brunch fundraiser on April 22 at the Witte Museum Mays Family Center from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our speaker is Coach Rob Mendez. Sponsorships are available. All proceeds from the brunch will support the SAC President’s Scholarship fund to ensure students with the most need are supported during their academic journey.
San Antonio College was established in 1925 in support of the mission of the Alamo Community College District. San Antonio College responds to Bexar County’s diverse community by providing high quality general education, liberal arts and sciences, career education, continuing education and developmental education. San Antonio College is the largest single-campus community college in Texas and one of the largest in the United States. See our website for specific times and places for our four days of celebration.
Admission to the conference is Free. Times Vary.
