“This Hallowed Ground: Alamo Plaza” is a free historical walking tour within the original compound walls of the Alamo. Tour attendees will hear various perspectives of the battle from both sides as presented by SRT moderator, Robert M. Benavides, other SRT event members, and the reenactors of the San Antonio Living History Association in historical clothing and arms of the Alamo battle period.
The mission of the Alamo Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas is to increase public awareness of the significant historical sites and events of Texas with a focus in the San Antonio area. They also support public projects that advance the education of local youth in Texas history. Membership is open to all males who are descendants of residents living in the Republic of Texas. The Alamo Chapter also works to preserve historic documents and artifacts to increase public awareness of their importance in Texas history. Robert M. Benavides and David W. Jauer have been co-chairmen of this event since 1987.
