Jim Mery is a San Antonio municipal government leader whose 34-year City career spans parks, sports and entertainment facilities, downtown operations, Center City Development and Operations and major civic projects. His work includes managing significant public facility improvements, coordinating and supporting nationally recognized events, advancing San Antonio’s downtown and continuing civic service through the Fiesta San Antonio Commission.

Jim concluded a distinguished 34-year career in municipal service with the City of San Antonio in 2018. His extensive experience across multiple city departments has provided him with comprehensive insight into governmental operations, enabling him to consult on a broad spectrum of municipal issues for diverse organizations.

In 2019, Jim joined the Fiesta San Antonio Commission as an Elected Commissioner and each year has elevated his position as an Elected Executive Committee member.

Jim was elected President of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission for the 2027 Fiesta San Antonio. During more than four years on the Executive Committee, his priorities have been strengthening the Commission, attracting out-of-town visitors to Fiesta San Antonio, and engaging young adults in the Commission’s mission to help grow its membership.

Jim and Sharon have been married for 37 years. They are the parents of three children: Stephen, who is married to Alora and has a 3-year-old son, Thomas, and 6-month-old twins, Clark and James; and daughters Tara and Michelle.
