In 1909, John Carrington founded the Order of the Alamo, an organization limited to male members of the city’s upper crust, to select the queen of Fiesta and her court.

The Order of the Alamo hosts the Coronation of the Queen, which is an Official Fiesta® event. The Queen’s court includes a princess, 12 in-town duchesses and 12 from out of town. These royalty are featured in the Battle of Flowers Parade.
