The tradition of the Chili Queen dates back more than 100 years, rooted in San Antonio’s rich cultural history.
The Happy Foundation is named after San Antonio mover and shaker Arthur “Hap” Veltman and is dedicated to preserving history while giving back to the community.
The Foundation has also collected an extensive LGBTQ+ archive, helping safeguard important stories and milestones. This year marks the 18th anniversary of The Chili Queens Chili Cook-Off – a milestone celebration you won’t want to miss! 🎉
The historic host venue, Bonham Exchange, was once one of the first USO clubs, and today the event continues its legacy of service by benefiting local charities throughout our community.
