John Switzer McFadden, Sr.
John McFadden, Sr was brought to San Antonio over 40 years ago by the Air Force and instantly fell in love with the city. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years as a Lt Col and has logged thousands of hours as an instructor pilot in each of the A-10, T-38 and T-37 aircraft. John has founded multiple businesses in San Antonio, from award-winning wineries to high complexity CLIA laboratories. John currently works for United Airlines as a pilot where over the past 25+ years he has been assigned to multiple aircraft, currently flying the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
John earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri – Columbia and his Master of Arts in counseling from Wayland Baptist University. He is active volunteering at his church and served on the national board of directors of Open Hearts Ministry as Treasurer. John has finished his coursework at Trinity Theological Seminary on a PhD in Christian Counseling and is working to complete his dissertation and graduate later this year.
As Rey Feo 75, John set numerous records. By visiting 115 local area schools, John and his “Diamond Jubilee” team shared the importance of education to over 67,000 elementary and middle school children. He was the driving force behind the Rey Feo Scholarship Foundation expanding their awards to the trades, providing hundreds of such scholarships to date. John, as Rey Feo 75, raised over $1.5 million for their cause. He is currently serving on the board of directors of the Rey Feo Consejo Educational Foundation as treasurer.
John and his wife Leslie are celebrating their 43rd wedding anniversary. They are active leading marriage ministry at their church and are passionate about working on their marriage covenant while helping others do the same. Their 4 children and 4 grandchildren are all local and love Fiesta! Clearly John’s passion is for serving and helping all people fulfill their God-given potential!
