Janet Putman

Fiesta® Commissioner

Janet Putman is a native of San Antonio, Texas.  She is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a B.S. degree in Education and a minor in History.  After teaching for eight years, Janet began a sixteen year career with Douglass King Seed Co., an agricultural seed company specializing in research, production, exportation and distribution of products in Texas and markets worldwide.  Douglass King Seed Co. is a family owned business founded in 1912.

Janet is an active community volunteer.  She was the Civilian President of the Military-Civilian Club in 2022-23.  She is currently serving on the Military Civilian Charitable Foundation board.  Janet has been a member of the Battle of Flowers® Association since 2002 and was Parade Chair in 2015.  She has served on the BOFA board of directors in various positions throughout the years.   

As a former member of the board of directors of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, Janet was an officer, committee chair and advocate for the mission of Girl Scouts.  She was awarded the Thanks Badge in recognition of her service as an adult volunteer.

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is another passion for Janet.  A board member for 20 years, she continued on the advisory council of the San Antonio Botanical Garden Society.  She is also a graduate of the Masters Leadership Program, Class VIII and is a member of the MLP Alumni Association.  

Janet is honored to be a newly elected commissioner of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission and is looking forward to her term in that position.
