Having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Julie Coffey has served the San Antonio area as a high school teacher, a high school counselor, and an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University San Antonio. Growing up as the child of a disabled veteran, she uses that perspective in working with military children and families to support them in their unique needs through the nonprofit Military Child Education Coalition.

Julie serves as the Civilian President of the Military-Civilian Club of San Antonio for the 2024 –2025 year. As a member for the past 20 years, she has been vice president, Military Ambassador sponsor, a member of various committees, and President of the Military-Civilian Charitable Foundation.

A devotee of the San Antonio Fiesta community and longtime member of the San Antonio Fiesta Commission, Julie’s favorite pastime is planning and attending Fiesta events with all sectors of San Antonio’s diverse community. She is an advocate for promoting the important, fun, and quirky nature of the “Party with a Purpose.”

Personal interests include her husband, Thomas “Tracy” J. Coffey, and their extended family, including their dog and horses. She also enjoys travel, art, politics, decorating, and collecting Fiesta medals. Her work with military children and teens is both a vocation and a passion.
