2024 Military Ambassadors

Army Sergeant Benjamin Smith, 106 Signal Brigade

To be chosen as the Army Ambassador is a great privilege and honor for me. It means that Drill Sergeant Kuhau and I are epitome and face of what the Army is today for the future. This position we will be able to express our culture, background, and experiences as a member of this community. Also, we be able to show how the Army values go in line with the local community. This will bridge the gap between Army and the local community making for stronger bond between the Army and the local community. There is no one more dedicated to wanting to do this for the brigade than myself. As your ambassador, I will continue to be the dedicated Leader and Soldier that is expected of me.

Army Staff Sergeant Jessica Kuhau, 264th Medical Battalion

When I first heard about the Ambassador program, I immediately put my name in the running. My family and I try to attend at least one of the Fiesta events every year, so I thought what an amazing opportunity to really go all out and immerse myself in all the celebration and history. I am so honored and humbled to be selected as an ambassador this year. Fiesta is in remembrance of the battle of the Alamo, so as a military member it means a lot to me to be a part of the tradition. Battle of the Flowers, which started the whole tradition is the only parade in the country to be planned and directed completely by women, so as a woman it is a privilege to observe this event as well. I am excited to learn more of the city and its people and that I can hopefully then take back and inspire others in the JBSA community to take part in Fiesta.

Marine Sergeant William Hoskins, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion

Being selected as an ambassador for the San Antonio, Texas Fiesta means being a part of something larger than oneself.

The United States Marine Corps has blessed me with ample unique opportunities to be involved in the local community. Fiesta has a long history dating back to 1891, to be a part of that is an honor and is taken with much gratitude.

Marine Lance Corporal Kristen Gonzalez, 4th Reconnaissance Battalion

Being selected as a Fiesta ambassador for the United States Marine Corps means upholding myself in standards that not only represent the Marine Corps but also the city I was born and raised. The Marine Corps has allowed me to be the best version of myself by surrounding me with those who challenge me daily. Fiesta is a celebration of how far we have come as a city and community, and I am proud to be part of the celebration and remembrance of the city so dear to me.

To say that I feel honored would be an understatement. It is not often that opportunities such as this come along where you get to represent your command or the Navy in a public forum. In addition to being able to represent the Navy I feel that it is extremely important to establish and maintain good working relationships within your community, especially the military and local community relationships. I was raised in a family that was very big on giving back and being involved with your community. Every command I have gone to, I have found ways to give back. This opportunity means a lot and I plan on representing myself, my command, and the Navy to the best of my ability.

Navy Legalman First Class Yvette Martinez, Navy Medical Training Support Center

It’s an honor to have been one of the two selected to be the Navy Ambassador. It is also a tremendous responsibility and one I hope to measure up to. I am truly humbled by the opportunity to represent the United States Navy in this capacity. Growing up I always knew I wanted to be a part of something that was bigger than myself and with this opportunity I get to continue to do so. I am eager to get to interact with people from all walks of life and share my story of what the Navy means to me and the doors it has given me the opportunity to walk through. I look forward to serving my country in this new role.

It is an honor and privilege to have been selected as an ambassador. It symbolizes one of the highest displays of recognition and trust. It is an opportunity to proudly stand as a representative on behalf of the United States Coast Guard. As an ambassador, it means that we have the chance to highlight the diversity and inclusivity of each organization, as well as actively support the community that we serve.

Being selected as a Coast Guard ambassador for Fiesta San Antonio is a tremendous honor that carries significant responsibilities and recognition within the community. As an ambassador, I am proud to serve as a representative of the Coast Guard, embodying honor, respect, and devotion to duty. In this role, I hope to foster positive relationships between the Coast Guard and local communities and showcase the Coast Guards dedication to its missions. Through the various Fiesta events, parades, and community engagements, I will have the opportunity to interact with diverse audiences and share the Coast Guards values inspiring others and making a meaningful impact. I am very excited to contribute to Fiestas vibrant atmosphere, celebrating San Antonio’s diverse heritage, culture and spirit while honoring the memories and dedication of heroes of the Alamo.

Air Force Staff Sergeant Edgar Bravo, Inter-American Air Forces Academy

To me, a Texan from the area means the world. I grew up on the border, and every other year, my parents would bring me down for Fiesta. When the opportunity came down, I told my leadership I wanted to try it. Now, I feel a great sense of pride and honor being able to represent my career field, the Inte-American Air Forces Academy, and my family.

Air Force Technical Sergeant Amanda Algueseva, 559th Medical Squadron

Being selected as a 2024 Air Force Ambassador is a very distinguished honor. I have lived in San Antonio for 25 years and remember attending Fiesta events as a young girl after learning about the history and culture in school. My favorite event was always Battle of the Flowers Parade. I remember watching the beautiful floats and people celebrating heroes of the Alamo wondering what it would take to be in their shoes celebrating the rich culture of San Antonio. I am grateful to have the opportunity to participate as well as how my daughters’ dreams do come true! I have also been stationed at every base in JBSA. I am looking forward to representing both of my passions at once, my home city as well as the United States Air Force.

Space Force Master Sergeant Christopher Mullins, Space Operations Command

I’m happy to be an ambassador. It is amazing meeting the people, seeing how they live, how they smile and laugh, tasting the food, and sampling the culture of Fiesta is a fun and wholesome experience. Thank you to everyone for supporting the Ambassadors program and allowing me to serve not only my country, but my community as well.
